“I just can’t sit still,” says Adams, who sells her many creations at her Anderson Township store. “I have to work with my hands.”

A painter and artist, Adams started teaching herself how to work with stained glass in 1969. “Over the years, painting sort of bored me,” she says. “I needed more of a challenge.”

She’s been hooked ever since. “I live it,” Adams says while surveying the diverse collection of stained-glass pieces on display in her Beechmont Avenue shop.

She shows her stained glass at high-end art shows around the country, including Summer Fair at Coney Island. She works with all types and textures of glass, and some of her pieces even contain jewels and handmade prisms.

A lover of nature and realism, Adams says that her time-intensive projects (one piece took three years to complete) are deeply personal. “They’re all a part of me,” she says. “Everything has something to do with me.”

In addition to the stained-glass images of angels, flowers and tropical birds, you can also find John Wayne and Mickey Mouse pieces at Michal’s Framing and Art glass. (Adams loves Western movies and always strives to have fun with her work.)

While Adams creates stained glass for churches and other buildings, she also does much smaller pieces that make great gifts.

Says Adams: “Stained glass is my true creative, artistic release.”
